Case Study - Empress
Empress Flat Refresh Project
Seb had recently purchased a newbuild one-bedroom flat in Cambridge Heath and wanted to add his own style, blending bachelor pad elements with an industrial vibe that suited the area and existing windows. The layout was challenging, particularly with the TV placement, and the flat lacked personal touches.
Being in a trendy, hip area, Seb envisioned a clean, modern design enhanced with plenty of plants to bring life to the space. The goal was to create a distinctive, stylish home that reflects Seb’s personality while making the most of the flat’s potential and that would welcome any guests.
The Budget:
The budget for this project came to just under £14k as it was done with bespoke / mid range products and included the following:
- Installation of bespoke storage and features.
- Complete revamp for a clean, modern look.
- Custom joinery for the living room, TV unit with bookshelves
- Windows: Window treatments (curtains).
- Custom wall mirror in wardrobe installed
- Selection of contemporary furniture, lighting, and accessories.
What we did:
Concept / layout
- We began with an online consultation and questionnaire to dive into Seb’s design preferences, challenges, and vision for his new one-bedroom flat. During our call, we scheduled a property visit to explore these issues further and discuss how to help address them.
- After the visit, we created an initial mood board to ensure the design style aligned with Seb’s vision, blending bachelor pad elements with an industrial feel and incorporating personal touches to make the space truly his own.make the space truly his own.
- A functional layout with custom joinery was produced to give the client the envisioned clean, modern design he wanted.
Design Development
01. Design
- A full home refresh design was created which included bespoke joinery, new window treatments, redecoration, new furniture throughout.
- We addressed the awkward TV placement by designing custom joinery that streamlined the TV setup, turning it into a feature with a pop of colour. This not only resolved the layout challenge but also added visual interest.
- To help Seb visualise the final look, we provided detailed visuals and a sample pack.
- Once everything was approved, we moved forward with planning and managing the project.
02. Project Management / Construction
- We prepared detailed drawings and descriptions, coordinating with our trusted trades and gathering quotes to save Seb from the hassle of searching for reliable professionals.
- To ensure a smooth process, we provided full project management from concept to completion, including regular site visits to oversee progress.
03. Sourcing & Styling
- The client wanted a stress-free experience, so we took charge of sourcing all the furniture and fittings, passing on exclusive trade discounts.
- To bring the final look together we returned for a final styling day, ensuring the flat was perfectly arranged and ready for Seb to enjoy.
04. The results:
Seb’s flat was transformed into a modern, stylish space with a distinct industrial feel.
